Responsibilities of the Position:

Reports directly to the Director of Quality.
-
Focus on component and product quality inspections and process control to ensure quality of product, including receiving inspections.
-
Manage operation, people, and projects in the Quality Department for NAVSEA Shipbuilding and Defense Industry, and of steel and aluminum weld fabrications.

Accountability for the quality of product being shipped as well as the accuracy of inspection data and success of all quality efforts at the plant level.

Participate in Fixture design and buy-off with First Article reviews both internally and with customers as required.

Supervises and performs quality inspections of key dimensions and characteristics. Maintains In-Process and Final inspection plans.

Provides proper quality records.

Trains quality technicians on use of quality inspection plans.

Confirms process sheets and quality signoffs are being completed and documented as required.

Performs Dock audits to confirm proper set up of quality control plans are accurate in detecting and preventing issues.

Ensure that accurate and timely dimensional inspections, reports, and record retention are being performed by inspectors and quality engineer

Audit incoming material /supplier quality and internal surveillance auditing as required.

Assure compliance to AS9100 & ISO 9001:2000 requirements.

Provide OQE documentation to meet or exceed customer requirements.

Provide real time information on inspection results.

Utilize our quality system report to help drive prevention and irreversible corrective action. Communicate concerns to the management team.

Develop and track continual improvement projects.

Hire individuals who have the knowledge, skill and desire to perform their job effectively.

Supervise and cross train inspectors on all inspection criteria.

Communicate and provide documentation to the customer when non conformance's are found at the customer in a timely and cost efficient manner.

Foster positive work attitude and be instrumental in developing an energetic, professional, team oriented, motivated work environment.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
-
CMM’s & Laser Tracking knowledge.
-
Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
-
Working knowledge of Shipbuilding and military designs.
-
Strong interpersonal skill, with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, while maintaining compliance with Corporate policy/procedures and confidentially
-
Must exhibit a high level of motivation, sense of urgency, and attention to detail.
-
Working knowledge of ERP systems such as E2 Shoptech.

Proficient in Word, Excel, and statistical programs
-
Ability to use email and internet in daily activities

Leadership skills

Must be a US Citizen

Must have High School Diploma or GED
